To nobody's surprise, Mortal Kombat 1 will not be featured at the EVO 2026 fighting game tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be the first time since 2011 that a Mortal Kombat game will not be making an appearance.

The decisions to add mandatory assist fighters, radically alter many of fan-favorite characters, such as changing Cyrax and Sektor into females, along with a severe lack of content compared to other installments that came before it, left many long time fans of the franchise less than satisfied with Mortal Kombat 1.

Add Mortal Kombat 1's low turnout at EVO 2025, and the organizers probably felt it best to leave it off the lineup.
