With a heavy heart, it's been reported that legendary actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa has sadly passed away. Tagawa famously portrayed the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, as well as providing his likeness and voice for the character in the Mortal Kombat 11 video game.

In the early morning hours of December 4, 2025, Tagawa died at his home in Santa Barbara, California at the age of 75, from complications of a stroke. He was surrounded by his children.
