Ed Boon has announced today via Twitter that the title of the next Mortal Kombat fighting game will be Mortal Kombat X.
A short time later, Boon posted a link to the official announce trailer. The trailer features Sub-Zero and Scorpion fighting at night in a forest, showcasing internal damage and a gruesome fatality at the end.
I am stunned, thrilled, speechless... looks very different but familiar too... one thing intrigued me most... the fact that the background was very ''kombatible'', meaning that you can grab a tree branch and use it... as for the graphics and the gameplay Injustice's influence is obvious... MK is back !!!
I saw the trailer three times. I'll probably watch it a hundred more times but I noticed that the environment plays a part in this game, like Injustice. It also confirms that scorpion and sub zero are returning. So based on that, I'm assuming they didn't use the story mode ending.
Not certain how I feel about the new costumes....really hope this means getting thrown into the soulnado turned Bi-Han back into Sub-Zero somehow. Also hope Sareena returns. Can't wait to kick ass as Scorpion.
According to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat X will give players the opportunity to play as multiple versions of the each cast member, which will impact their strategy and fighting style. Ed Boon went on to state that Mortal Kombat X will include new characters, new game modes, and an updated graphics engine. Ed Boon also confirmed that Mortal Kombat X will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The upcoming title will make its first public debut at E3 2014.
I really enjoyed the trailer and I can't wait to see more at E3. I love the new costumes and happy to hear new characters are coming, plus the fact that it looks like the environment will be a big part of fighting just like Injustice.
I've also seen a few people saying that the game looks like a prequel, how can you tell? How far back do you want to go, the last game covered that already, on to the future! All aboard the hype train!
