fatality.jpgTwo Colorado teens have been charged as adults in the death of one of the teen's 7yo half-sister. Apparently, authorities have been told the two teens were trying to re-enact Mortal Kombat while they were babysitting the 7yo.

History has shown that when kids do something dumb, videogames often seem to get blamed as the motivation for their actions. Unless the teens actually tried to decapitate, disembowel, or slice the 7yo in half, I don't see how Mortal Kombat can possibly be blamed for her death. A witness involved admitted to authorities that they were intoxicated at the time of the incident, so there was obviously alcohol involved, and is probably the primary factor that contributed to the teens lack of judgement, not Mortal Kombat.

JOHNSTOWN, Colorado (AP) -- Two teens have been charged with killing the 7-year-old sister of one of them by beating her with imitations of moves from the "Mortal Kombat" video game, prosecutors said.

Lamar Roberts, 17, and Heather Trujillo, 16, were charged as adults on one count each of felony child abuse causing death, state prosecutor Robert Miller said in court documents released Wednesday and filed a day earlier.

According to a police affidavit, the teens were baby-sitting Trujillo's half-sister, Zoe Garcia, on December 6 while the girl's mother was at work.

Zoe lost consciousness and stopped breathing after the teens hit, kicked and body-slammed her, imitating moves used in the video game, the document said.

Mortal Kombat have no fault. 1: Is a simple fighting game, just like Tekken, Street Fighter, Dead or Alive... seeing the news, the guys didn't used weapons or "fatalities". 2: the game is for Mature (18+) the guys are 16 and 17 yrs old. 3: How is possible some guys are so crazy to kick and punch a little sister?????
I thought babalitys were supposed to be nice!

But in all seriousness, they need to be put away for a long damn time. You fucking drop-kicked a seven year old kid and they blame it on the FUCKING GAME!

Not the drunk kids or the parents, no, it's the game.

WOW, I can say this unbiased. People are goddamn STUPID.
Shit, I was afraid of this. First Manhunt is blamed for the death of some kid in the UK, Manhunt 2 was censored and wasn't given a chance. MK is blamed for the death of a child in ths US, what happens next? With the serious overtone that is being implemented in MK in 2008, is it possible that it too will become censored?

I think that's why Midway and the MK team always seem to render the violence in MK as more cartoony, so to speak, like in MKDA with the bloody popcorn effects, etc.
If MK8 is censored, I garuntee that the fans are going to kick someone's ass. I know Jack Thompson is going for this one, he's a shark who smells blood in the water.
Well, like the famious Tourette's Guy said: "Butt-***k!"

Sounds too impossible and yet they blame the game? If they were all drunk, then of course they can imitate anything. For example: "Look, I'm going to imitate *hic* James Bond" and uses real gun badly, killing someone and then they can blame the movie about it, because "there was no such thing as "do-not-try-this-in-real-life-at-all-warning message" or other excuses, like "It has violence".

Gosh...more likely the ones who are blaming the games should be blaming the alcohol more than the games.
Am I the only one that thinks it's wrong that the picture of the news headline for his is "Fatality" lol...

It's horribly wrong, but I didn't know what else to put there. Sindel - Embarassed
You know, these kind of teenagers digusts the living hell out of me. Why would they babysit a kid, and not only beat the hell out of the little girl, plus they were drunk.

And to "soften" the punishment they truly deserve, they blame it on a game. Which to tell the truth, it not as bad as many, MANY other games. I hope they deserve a long time in prison, and hell even the death sentence.

These kind of teenagers bothers me.

Quoted for truth, the world's stand on violence in games is the most pitiful thing I've seen in this world. Instead of pointing out flaws in one's own mind we gladly find a scapegoat. Fear is something that changes everything, when we fear that a portion of our own children may be crazy, we simply dope them up on drugs and say that they have no flaws. Instead we should be attempting to acknowledge these flaws instead of placing blame.
oh god, jack thompson is going to go to town on this one. its the teenagers fault, who in there right minds beats a little kid to practice video game moves? this is just disgusting.
Khaos, my thoughts exactly, lol.

It's stupid for someone to blame games movies music or tv for someone's death. The only person to blame is the idiots that did it, and possibly the parents who should've done better somehow. Besides, it's not like this isn't the first case to blame videogames for youth deaths, let alone MK being blamed.
If it isn't MK, or Doom, or Night Trap....it is Music. They never blame violent Movies though?

WOW...good thing nobody watches the News!
These goddamn news stations HAVE to find some way that Mortal Kombat is involved, can't they just be dipshits, or just apeshit crazy anymore?
