King Gorbak was the father of Goro and Durac and husband of Queen Maya, Goro's mother. He has appeared in the official Mortal Kombat II comic book as well as the animated movie Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins. He was angered at the defeat of his son Goro and thus sent Kintaro to aid Shao Kahn in destroying the remaining warriors from Earthrealm.
