When Sektor failed to gain control of the Lin Kuei to Sub Zero, he left for Japan and formed a new clan of cybernetic ninjas known as the Tekunin. He used this army of cyborgs to conquer Japan.

In the events of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, the Tekunin came under attack by the Special Forces, led by Sonya Blade, in an attempt to rescue Jax, whom she believed was captured by Sektor. In his ending, it is revealed that Jax was indeed captured by the Tekunin, and a microchip was implanted in his brain. However, in an unusual turn of events, Jax defeats Sektor in battle and claims leadership of the clan for himself.
