Movie website Bloody Disgusting is reporting that it has learned new information regarding major plot details for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie reboot, directed by Kevin Tancharoen. As most of you probably know, Tancharoen directed the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series released last year.
Anyways, according to Bloody Disgusting, the plot of the movie is about some loser that....well, just read for yourself, below.
With Kevin Tancharoen still attached to direct from Oren Uziel’s screenplay, we’ve exclusively discovered that the live-action reboot will follow a lowly unlucky supermarket employee who discovers that he has out of this world powers and must decide between good and evil, even though the evil side has helped him discover his true potential and who he really is.
Hmmm, this sounds incredibly lame to me, but Tancharoen did a great job with Legacy, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, for now. Plus, the info is still considered rumor at this point, anyways.
UPDATE (06/20/2012): Looks like this rumor may have been debunked by director Kevin Tancharoen. Via Twitter, he posted the following message, which included references to other subjects that have recently been proven untrue, inferring that the rumored MK movie plot is also untrue.

I hope and wish THIS is just a joke....and a very bad one....isn't the original MK story good enough so they can make a mind-blowing movie?

I didn't believe it the first time I saw it, I mean for MK, news a horror site seems like wierd place to listen to  ....so Bay"s version of TMNT won't have aliens or was he commenting on that he's old school in that the Turtles are mutants?

I think what he was referring to was how people went completely insane and thought the turtles were going to be aliens when they heard the turtles were going to have alien origins, even though they always had alien origins. The ooze that turned them into mutants has always been alien.

So in the comics the ooze was alien? I've only read a few issues, seen episodes of severl animated series, some of the live action series, and the first 3 films...
