Warner Bros. has officially announced that the next game to be released by NetherRealm Studios will be DC superhero fighting game titled Injustice: Gods Among Us. Based on the reveal trailer, it appears that Earth's greatest superheroes and villians are now locked in...ahem...mortal combat.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is slated to be released for on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U sometime in 2013.

Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Injustice: Gods Among Us, an all-new game in development by award-winning NetherRealm Studios, creators of the definitive fighting game franchise Mortal Kombat. The game is scheduled for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Wii U™ system from Nintendo.
Injustice: Gods Among Us debuts as a bold new fighting game franchise that introduces a deep, original story featuring a large cast of favorite DC Comics icons such as Batman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and many others. Set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, players will experience heroes and villains engaging in epic battles on a massive scale.

If there are no finishing moves of any kind, I'll probably pass. I think WB/NRS are putting themselves in a difficult situation. If it does have finishers, people may blow it off as a Mortal Kombat clone, just with DC characters. If it doesn't have finishers, I think people may find it boring. I know I can't be bothered with fighting games without finishers.

The game looks promising, and the graphics are pretty stellar. I like the increased level of interactivity with the environment.
From the looks of things, I will definitely pre-order it, but I can't help but wonder how they'll handle the DLC and patches with this one. I'm sure they'll have more in store than MK9 did, though...
I was shocked and satisfied. Will be following this game..

I was thinking the same thing but I have a feeling it's going to be like MK vs DCU, with the heroes having brutal finishers and the villains having finishers that would kill someone.
I'm kind of bummed we're probably not going to see a new MK game until at least 2014 now.
Yeah I know, it sucks but I still have MK9 and maybe this game to keep me happy until the next MK comes out.
After watching the trailer again, I think we all could take a guess at who's making it into this game so far we've got for the heroes: Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and for villains: Solomon Grundy, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor and I have a gut feeling that Doomsday is the Sub-Boss and Darkseid will be the main boss.
Here's the roster I'm hoping for:

I love the idea except for one thing. Wonder Woman needs to take those goddamn pants off. The only time she ever wore pants was for that one JL reboot cover and that pilot. Lose the pants. Also needs more Jason Todd. Ugh Harley Quinn...I want me some Ivy, Catwoman, Cheetah, Lady Shiva, and/or some of the Furies to name a few. Also needs Bane, I mean if the concept is the possibility of superheroes going rouge, why not the only man to not only defeat the dark knight but the only one who broke him? And Batman looks bad ass (course that's usually a given).
