As you may remember, back in late 2009 ex-Midway designer Vincent Proce released some of his personal character design koncepts he pitched to Midway before leaving the company in 2008. His koncepts were very dark and gritty, and would've represented the characters very well in-game. Unfortunately, his designs were never used by Midway.

Well, it appears Mr. Proce was also working on character design koncepts for Mortal Kombat (2011) as well, and has once again revealed his designs on his official blog.

 Vincent Proce:
The first three concepts I did (Reptile, Johnny Cage and Cryax) I had no interaction with the team and are the ones in which I branched out on my own.

The next three I did (Milena, Sub Zero & Nightwolf) were directed by the team to look like what they did in MK2. I think they all turned out pretty good, but I was a little disappointed with what I did with Sub-Zero, he was always my fav of the MK characters and I think I could have iterated on him a few more times.

Damn,these are just great finery!
The only thing I hate is Johnny's face,it's just so unlike him,he's cocky, but not that aggressively evil...
Also Nightwolf looks very angry, which is unlike him and somehow he reminds me of Chief Thunder of KI...
Great post.

Cage looks a bit like Zasaz in the head area, the comic version of Zasaz I mean.

These are great concepts but I'm pretty satified with what we got, even thoguh I hate most of them.

That Mileena is really great, though.

Im usually not a huge fan of reptile when he looks more lizard than human but that design is badass.
